UEW Signs MoU with Assemblies of God Institute of Higher Learning

The University of Education, Winneba has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Assemblies of God Institute of Higher Learning for six programmes in Technology Education. The MoU was signed on 18th August, 2017 to promote education and deepen ties between the two institutions.

In his welcome address, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Anthony Afful-Broni expressed his delight about the partnership agreement considering the expertise of staff of the Assemblies of God Institute of Higher Learning. He said that the partnership was very important to facilitate learning between the two institutions.

Rev. Fr. Afful-Broni said not only will UEW mentor the institute but also, UEW would learn a lot from the institute.  He urged the institute to ensure that they comply with the affiliation policy of UEW and also follow the standard in admission requirements set by the National Accreditation Board.

On his part, the Rector of the Assemblies of God Institute of Higher Learning (AGIHL), Prof. Ernest Owusu-Ansah thanked the Ag. Vice-Chancellor for accepting to mentor the new educational institute. He stated that UEW was selected because of the implementation of the Competency-Based Training (CBT) programme at the College of Technology Education, Kumasi of the University.

He added that “the way forward for the nation is to practicalise learning and since UEW has taken the lead and AGIHL is also interested in contributing its quota towards the development of Ghana, it was wise to join hands with UEW to be able to train people who would be more functional in the development of this nation”.

He indicated that the institute would honour its part of fulfilling the requirements of the agreement established. He urged UEW to regularly monitor the programmes run at the Institute to ensure its compliance with the quality assurance practices of the University.

Present at the ceremony were representatives of the Assemblies of God Institute of Higher Learning: Council Member, Mr. Kwame Asamoah-Sonyoh and Finance Officer, Mr. William Osei Berchie.

Also present were Staff of UEW: Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Education, Mr. Francis Donkor and the Head of Department of Auto and Electrical Education, Ing. S.N. Nsoh, the Deputy Registrar for the Division of Academic Affairs, Mrs. Wilhelmina Tete-Mensah and the Deputy Registrar for the Division of Publications and Communication, Mr. Steve van Kamassah.
