UEW Credit Union Institutes Chairman of Council’s Award Scheme
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Cooperative Credit Union Limited has introduced the Chairman of Council’s Award Scheme to sponsor three graduating students every year.
The award comprises Best Graduating Student for the School of Business in Winneba, Best Graduating Student for Faculty of Business Education in Kumasi and Best Graduating Female Student at Asante-Mampong campus.

This was made known on Tuesday, 4th February, 2020 at the Council Chamber, North Campus, Winneba when the Board of the Union presented an actual and a dummy cheque of GH₵ 15,000 to Management in support of the award scheme.
Chairman of the Board, Dr. B. B. B. Bingab, who presented the cheque on behalf of the Union, indicated that each beneficiary would receive an amount of GH₵ 1,000 for the year. He added that the scholarship would be instituted for five years renewable after its expiration.

He hinted that the Credit Union Association of Ghana had a Training Centre at Kasoa and wishes to collaborate with UEW to design short courses for them as well as awarding Certificate to its trainees.
The Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni, who chaired the meeting and received the cheque on behalf of Management, commended the Union for its significant role in the University to augment the working conditions of staff.

“The University is very grateful for the cheque that you are providing for those students who would benefit. It is a beautiful way of advertising and also expressing the kind of relationship that exists between the Union and the University. As a matter of fact, you are an integral part of the University; without the University, you do not exist and we need to remind ourselves of that,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor was delighted about the prospect of an outreach in the short courses that the Union had embarked on in Kasoa. He affirmed UEW’s better position and readiness to ensure the collaboration comes to reality.
