Team UEW Presents GUSA Trophies and Medals to Management
The sports team that represented the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) at the just ended Ghana Universities Sports Association Games (GUSA) has today, Thursday, 13th February, 2020 presented trophies and medals won at the competition to Management.
The team won five trophies and 43 medals in total consisting 15 gold, 11 silver and 17 bronze to place second out of 11 participating public universities at the 2020 GUSA games held at the University of Ghana, Legon from Friday, 3rd January to Sunday, 19th January, 2020.
Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni
The Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni reiterated Management’s commitment to ensuring that every participant gets the necessary support. He commended the Chairman of Amalgamated Sports, Dr. Kwame Kyere Diabour and his team for the excellent work done.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang expressed Management’s pride in the team’s performance and urged them to continue to make UEW proud in subsequent competitions.

The Chairman of Amalgamated Sports was grateful to Management for the tremendous support offered to the team.
The team’s performance was thrilled by a number of record breaking in disciplines such as athletics, handball and goalball. UEW won nine gold, five silver and six bronze medals in athletics. The team also won four gold, three silver and six bronze medals in racket games whereas two gold, three silver and five bronze medals were picked from other games.
Also present at the presentation were the Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq.; Finance Officer, Mr. Francis Obeng; and University Librarian, Mr. Viscount Buer.
