Senior Staff of COLTEK Schooled on Modern Trends in University Administration

The Department of Human Resource (DHR) at the College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has organised a two-day workshop on current trends in University Administration for all senior staff of the College.

Participants were also exposed to various working Policy Documents of the UEW in a bid to refresh their memories in respect of their duties and responsibilities to the University as well as their rights and benefits.

The College Registrar, Mr. Michael Kofi Adu opening the workshop noted that the topics had been painstakingly selected and appealed to participants to take advantage of the opportunity to assimilate enough to improve their performance for the progress of UEW.

The topics included the Importance of the University Policy Documents in Ensuring Effective Decision-Making; Managing Time and Workload to Achieve Desired Results; Interpersonal Relationships and Communication Skills for Achieving Results; Managing Office Effectively to Achieve Results and The Effective Use of the University Internet System to Achieve Results.

The Head of DHR, Mr. Richard K. Mprah intimated that the workshop had been designed to give participants greater understanding of their responsibilities vis-à-vis build their confidence to enhance their overall performance in the University.

“At the end of the day, participants would be equipped with the right attitude to achieve results,” he said with optimism and explained further that “the workshop is geared towards ensuring proactive and responsive administrative system for the University as indicated in the objective 11 of UEW’s 2019-2023 Corporate Strategic Plan.”

The Deputy Registrar and Head of University Relations Department, Mr. Michael Kofi Twum-Ampomah dilated on various policy documents of the University and encouraged participants to religiously study the provisions in them to avoid falling foul to any of them.

He listed about 26 of such policy documents and reiterated their critical role in ensuring fairness, equity, transparency, rights and responsibilities, accountability and conflict resolution among workers in the University.
