PRINCIPAL INSPECTS AfDB/ COTVET/ COLTEK PROJECTS
The Principal of the College of Technology Education, Kumasi of the University of Education, Winneba, Prof. (Ing.) Reynolds Okai has inspected the ongoing AfDB/COTVET/COLTEK projects on campus.
Prof. Okai said the visit was undertaken to ascertain the level of work done, make inputs where necessary, and to ensure that deadlines were met for the facilities to be completed and utilized. The Architect and Consultant of the project, Mr. Fleicher Arthur, who led the tour, assured the Principal that the project would be completed on schedule, despite a 15% delay out of the expected 65% completion as at the time of the visit. According to the Development Officer, Ing. Eric Opoku Amankwah, the six-million-dollar project which started in December, 2015 was scheduled to be completed in June, 2017.
He disclosed that the buildings would be furnished and equipped after completion. He hinted that the list of equipment to be fitted in all the 5 Blocks was ready and would be made available to the Departments for study. The projects are funded by the African Development Bank and they include: a 2-Storey Library and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Block, a 2-Storey Catering, Fashion and Design Block, an Electrical and Plumbing Workshop, a Mechanical and Automotive Workshop, and a Carpentry/Joinery and Construction Workshop. The Principal was accompanied by Deans of Faculty and Heads of Department.
