Department of Home Economics Receive Equipment from Valco Trust Fund

The Valco Trust Fund in Accra has made a donation of equipment to the Department of Home Economics Education. The gesture is a response to a request made by two Patrons of the Home Economics Students Association in the University of Education, Winneba. The Equipment which comprise a fridge, sewing machines, pressing iron (dry), pressing iron (steam), Gas Cookers (with oven), Blenders, Gas Cylinders (with regulators, hose & clips) was donated at a ceremony held at the forecourt of the Valco Trust Fund Building in Accra on 12th December, 2016.

The Director of the Valco Trust Fund, Mr. A.F. Hammond said the donation was part of the responsibilities of the Fund to render support to individuals and corporate groups in need. He noted that they have assisted many groups over the years and that has helped in developing many small and medium scale organisations into larger ones. He was optimistic that the items donated to the Department of Home Economics would go a long way to assist the department in fulfilling its mandate of imparting skills and knowledge to students and the wider society.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Department, the Ag Head of Department of Home Economics Education, Ms. Kutum Comfort Madah expressed her profound gratitude for the kind gesture, whiles noting that the equipment would assist in training and equipping students in the Department with the right skills which could also be imparted to students to be taught at the Junior and Senior high schools. She however requested for further assistance to be given to the department in future to enable it fulfill its objectives.

The two patronesses who made the request to the Valco Trust Fund on behalf of the Home Economics Students Association were Mrs. Joana Antwi-Donkor and Ms. Priscilla Yaba Ackah, Lecturers in the Department
