Department of Early Childhood Donates Teaching Materials to Schools in Winneba

The Department of Early Childhood in partnership with its Student Association has presented educational materials to basic schools in Winneba. The items which were presented on 6th October, 2017, were part of its annual contribution to support basic schools in Winneba.

Presenting the items to the schools, the Head of Department of Early Childhood, Dr. Oppong Frimpong, on behalf of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Prof. Afful-Broni and the Dean of the Faculty of Educational Studies, Dr. Samuel Hayford, stated that the donation, which was part of their annual support scheme to basic schools was to improve teaching delivery and performances of pupils from the beneficiary schools. “The donation is done annually during the department’s week celebration and is also part of the department’s community service” he said. He commended a lecturer at the Department of Early Childhood, Mrs. Justina Adu for the instrumental role played in preparing the materials for the exercise.

Receiving the items on behalf of the schools, the Director in charge of Admission and Finance at the Ghana Education Service District Office in Winneba, Mrs. Grace Abio, said “Preparing teaching and learning materials is a challenge for basic schools due to insufficient and late arrival of funds, therefore she was thankful to the Department of Early Childhood and its Student Association for the support rendered to the schools over the past decade. She urged them to continue the good work and gave the assurance that the materials donated would influence the quality of teaching and learning at the beneficiary schools.  

The beneficiary schools were; Banisters Early Childhood Center, Winneba Municipal A and B School, Family Care Nursery and Kindergarten, Ebenezer Memorial Education Center, Don Bosco School, Municipal Assembly Primary, Methodist A,B C and D.
