“Animals require healthy and clean environment just like human beings” – HR tells University Farm workers.

The Division of Human Resource has organised an interactive workshop for staff of the University farm on Winneba campus. The workshop which was part of the annual scheduled interactive programmes for staff of the University farm brought together staff of the Division of Human Resource, Maintenance Office and the University Farm.

Engaging participants at the workshop, the Senior Assistant Registrar in charge of Junior and Senior Staff Unit, Mr. Augustus K. Brew, on behalf of the Deputy Registrar, Division of Human Resource indicated that the workshop was important because it was a way to engage staff of the University farm on how to ensure healthy, clean and effective sanitation at the University farm.

He stated that the training was part of efforts to provide and rejuvenate the passion and the enthusiasm of the workers of the University farm in the discharge of their duties. Mr. Brew admonished that, animals require healthy and clean environment just like human beings. He again indicated that as a University, "our care for the animals should be the operational benchmark for others to emulate." He noted that the University farm workers must work to keep the environment clean because clean environment has a direct impact on the health of the animals they keep.

The Head of Maintenance Unit, Mr. Jacob Mensah who spoke on the effective use of protective clothing and tools hinted that the University is hugely in support of ensuring the safety of its workers. He advised the workers to make effective use of protective clothing to avoid injury and most especially snake bite taking into cognizance the environment they find themselves.

The workshop was coordinated by Mr. Isaac Darkoh (Chief Administrative Assistant, Training and Development Unit)
