Professor Stephen Jobson Mitchual

Professor Stephen Jobson Mitchual is the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), appointed in October 2023, and a distinguished Professor of Wood Science and Technology. With a Ph.D. in Wood Science and Technology (KNUST, 2014), an MSc in Wood Technology and Management (KNUST, 2005), a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (UCC, 1998), and a BSc in Agricultural Engineering (KNUST, 1993), he brings decades of academic and leadership expertise to his role.

His research focuses on sustainable wood processing, including wood biomass energy, sawmill safety, and agro-forest residue utilization, with numerous international publications. As a reviewer for journals like *Energy Sources A* and *Alexandria Engineering Journal*, and a member of prestigious bodies such as the Society of Wood Science & Technology (USA) and the Ghana Science Association, he is a globally recognized scholar.

Professor Mitchual’s academic career at UEW and AAMUSTED includes roles as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, and full Professor (2021), alongside leadership positions such as Dean of the Faculty of Technical Education (2017–2020), Dean of Applied Sciences & Mathematics Education (2019–2022), Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and Acting Dean of Graduate Studies. His tenure as Vice-Chancellor emphasizes educational innovation, inclusivity, and community-university collaboration.
