“Sustaining Muni Lagoon and Winneba” – A Collaboration between UEW and University of Virginia, USA

A four-day seminar, has been organized at the University of Education, Winneba, from Monday 5th March, 2018 to Thursday 8th March, 2018 under the aegis of the Centre for International Programmes (CIP). The seminar was co-sponsored by UEW and University of Virginia located in the City of Charlottesville, under the theme “Sustaining Muni Lagoon and Winneba”. The seminar was about a project on tapping the economic potentials of Muni Lagoon, including ecotourism in Winneba.

School of Creative Arts Embarks on an Outreach Programme

On Thursday, March 15, 2018, a four-member team of lecturers from the Department of Graphic Design, Department of Art Education, and Fashion and Textiles Education Unit in the School of Creative Arts, University of Education, Winneba visited Potsin T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School in the Central Region of Ghana to interact with staff and students of the Visual Art Department.

Sympathisers Pay Glowing Tribute to Late Prof. Okai

It has been a case of overwhelming outpouring of sympathies to the University of Education Winneba (UEW) and the family of the Late Prof. Reynolds Okai since news broke on February 18, 2018 about the death of the late Professor. Records at the Kumasi Campus of University, where the late Professor was Principal, are indicating umpteenth visit of individuals and institutions that are paying glowing tribute to the memory of the late Professor. Their descriptions of the demised Professor mainly trumpeted his attributes of affability, gentility, industry and religiosity.

All Set for One-Week Observance of Death of Prof. Okai

All is set for what is expected to be a fitting One-Week Observance of the passing of Principal of the College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) Prof. (Ing.) Reynolds Okai. In the last few days, every Tom, Dick and Harry at COLTEK has been busy doing one activity or the other, all in preparation for the One-Week Observance (typically an Asante customary rite) scheduled for Sunday March 18, 2018 at the ceremonial grounds at COLTEK.

INFOTESS TRAINS COLTEK STUDENTS TO BE BUSINESS STARTERS

Scores of students at the College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) grabbed the opportunity offered through a special entrepreneurship programme in the College to learn the skills of producing various items including toiletries, detergents and local non-alcoholic drinks. The March 8, 2018 event, organised by the Information Technology Students Society (INFOTESS) was to complement efforts already started by officialdom to ensure that all students from COLTEK got some entrepreneurial training before completing their respective programmes.

“Let’s Ignite the Power in Women for Development” –Gender Mainstreaming Directorate

The Gender Mainstreaming Directorate (UEW) in collaboration with Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG) – UEW and National Union of Ghana Students (UEW Chapter) organised a three-day event from 8th  – 10th March, 2018 to mark the 2018 International Women’s Day (IWD). 

The launching of this year’s IWD took place on Thursday March 8, 2018 under the theme “Igniting the Power of the 21st Century Ghanaian Woman Towards Nation Building” at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus.

UEW Places 2nd Position in the Maiden Varsities Civic Challenge

The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 battled with the University of Education, Winneba in a debate for the topmost prize in the maiden edition of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE)’s 2018 Civic Challenge.

The motion for the debate was: “60 years after independence, does Ghana need foreign aid for its development?”
