UEW to Unveil Cutting-Edge Infrastructure to Propel Academic and Research Excellence

The Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), under the leadership of Prof. Mawutor Avoke, has embarked on a transformative journey to complete several long-standing infrastructure projects on the university’s campus in a bid to bolster its commitment to academic and research excellence.

These ambitious projects include the completion of two 3,000-capacity hostels, a state-of-the-art lecturer's block complex, and a 100-bed hospital facility.

UEW Ph.D. Journalism Students Interact with CEO of Focus 1 Media

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Students in Journalism and Media Studies at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) have interacted with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Focus 1 Media, Mr. Kwame Adu-Mante, on content development and management.  

The engagement served to bridge the gap between academia and industry while also allowing Ph.D. students to have a thorough understanding of the reality of content management in the media landscape.

UEW Level 400 Physics Students Showcase Their Projects

Level 400 Physics Education students at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) have showcased their projects on semiconductor physics, heat, and waves as part of the requirements for completing their programme of study.

The students constructed a rotating V-shaped solar panel tracker, an irrigation system, a smart dustbin that opens itself when someone walks up to it, and a radio transmitter to identify a radio station's frequency range, among other inventions.

UEW Chancellor Entreats Government to Strengthen Youth-focused Policies

The Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Neenyi Ghartey VII, has entreated the government to strengthen youth-focused policies that promote education, vocational training and entrepreneurship to empower the next generation and enhance their contribution to the economy. 

He said this would help avert the current economic challenges and the spectre of unemployment sweeping through West Africa. He called on the government to ensure that its policy facilitates collaboration between educational institutions and industries to align curricula with market demands.

UEW to Ease Accommodation Pressure on Students Next Academic Year – Vice-Chancellor

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mawutor Avoke, has indicated the University of Education, Winneba’s (UEW) resolve to complete the construction of the Ghana Universities Staff Superannuation Scheme (GUSSS) hostel sites 1 and 3 to ease accommodation pressure on students next academic year.

He assured the university community and stakeholders of completing 11 projects by the end of his tenure on Saturday, 30th September, 2023, of which the GUSSS hostel sites 1 and 3 would definitely be part.

IERIS-UEW Holds CPD Workshop for Teachers in Kwaebibirem Municipality

The Institute for Educational Research and Innovation Studies (IERIS) of the University of Education, Winneba (IERIS-UEW), a service provider for the National Teaching Council (NTC) in the conduct of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for teachers, has engaged 422 teachers in the Kwaebibirem with the regional and district directors of education.

The training took place at three venues concurrently at Kwaebibirem for two days, from Wednesday, 16th to Thursday, 17th August, 2023.

Department of Mathematics Education Launches Project to Mentor SHS Students

The Department of Mathematics Education, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), on Wednesday, 16th August, 2023, launched a project aimed at mentoring Senior High School (SHS) students in mathematics.   

The project, dubbed “Mentoring the Next Generation”, was held under the theme “Using Mathematics as a Tool to Achieve Quality Education (SDG 4)”.
