UEW inaugrates 6th Governing Council

A 17-member council has been inaugurated at the University of Education, Winneba on Thursday 30th June, 2016. The Honourable Minister for Education, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new council at a ceremony held at the Council Chamber of the University of Education, Winneba.

UEW launches research and scholarship funds

Two Policy Manuals has been launched at the University of Education, Winneba on 13th April, 2016. Over 200 stakeholders of education which included faculty, staff, students, corporate organisations and representatives from the National Council for Tertiary Education, were brought together to witness the event at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre.

OMANHENE OF AJUMAKO TRADITIONAL AREA APPEALS TO VICE-CHANCELLOR

The Omanhene of Ajumako Traditional Area, Okokordurofo Nana Ababio Hammah II, has pleaded with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba to ensure the timely completion of all projects which has been started on its campuses, especially those on the Ajumako campus. He said this when the leadership of UEW paid a courtesy call on the traditional rulers of the land at Ajumako on 7th June, 2016. Nana Ababio II said the setting up of the University has undoubtedly benefitted the people of Ajumako immensely.

UEW COLLABORATES WITH COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN GHANA

A workshop was organised for principals of the Colleges of Education and their representatives on 23rd March, 2016 at the University of Education, Winneba, Winneba campus. The Workshop brought together twenty (20) representatives from selected Colleges of Education. Participating institutions were Ada College of Education, Atebubu College of Education, Dambai College of Education, Mount Mary’s College of Education and Enchi College of Education.

AN ALUMNUS PARTNERS UEW TO CONSTRUCT EARLY CHILDHOOD CLASSROOM BLOCK

A ground breaking exercise has been held to commence the building of a Modern Classroom Block for Students of the Early Childhood Care Department as a Demonstration Block. The founder of EndPoint Homeopathic Clinic, Dr. Adu Boateng, an Alumnus of the University of Education, Winneba said the act was in fulfillment of a promise made to the Department of Early Childhood Care during its 9th Anniversary Celebration. Explaining further, he recounted during his student days the challenges that confronted his class when it came to the demonstration bit of what they were taught theoretically.

UEW SIGNS MOU WITH FLEET TECHNOLOGIES

The University of Education, Winneba signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Fleet Technologies at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office on Wednesday 6th April, 2016 to assist in the automation of verification of student results from West African Examination Council (WAEC). Introducing the delegation, the Deputy Registrar in charge of Academic Affairs, Mrs. Wilhelmina Tete-Mensah noted that the signing of the agreement was informed by the Division’s quest to improve upon the Admissions Process currently in place.

UEW SUPPORTS EDUCATIONAL SECTOR IN GHANA

The University of Education, Winneba has shown readiness to provide the needed assistance to the Colleges of Education in upgrading its status into tertiary institutions in Ghana. Structures put in place were discussed at a stakeholder workshop held on the theme “Current Trends in Teacher Education in Ghana” by two renowned educationists: Professor Jophus Anamuah-Mensah and Dr. (Mrs.) Evelyn Oduro.
