SITUATE Research Team Hosts Dissemination Workshop

A group of lecturers from the Department of Geography Education, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has held a dissemination workshop at the North Campus Mini-Conference Room to present the findings of their research project, “Towards a disability-inclusive urban transport system in Accra and Nairobi: a policy practice agenda (SITUATE),” to key stakeholders.

IERIS and SHAPE Attitude Ghana Observe 2022 World Environment Day

The Institute of Educational Research and Innovation Studies (IERIS), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), and SHAPE Attitude Ghana have held a float and roundtable discussion on the topic “Only one earth: the need to protect it” to mark the 2022 World Environment Day.

As part of the celebration, the organisers with selected school pupils in the Effutu Municipality marched down the principal streets of Winneba to the IERIS enclave to brass band music.

Level 100 SPED Student Receives Support from SRC

Mr. Bright Zinaneeba, a level 100 mobility challenged student in the Department of Special Education (SPED), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has been supported with a custom-made tricycle to enable him to attend lectures and other social functions on time.

The donation was realised on the recommendations of the newly established Disability Desk of the Student Representative Council (SRC).

Integrated Home Economics Level 300 Students Mount Runway

As part of their Costume Design, Construction, and Clothing Technology course requirements, Level 300 students in the Department of Integrated Home Economics Education, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), have mounted the runway to showcase their competencies in fashion design.

The fashion show, which was heavily patronised by the students and the University community, took place at the forecourt of the Faculty of Home Economics Education, North Campus, UEW. It is held annually as part of the end-of-semester examinations for students.

School of Graduate Studies Interacts with Academic Heads

The School of Graduate Studies (SGS), has held four-day separate interactive sessions with Deans, Heads of Department, and Graduate Coordinators of the various Schools and Faculties at Winneba and Ajumako campuses to deliberate on issues of concern relating to the quality of graduate studies at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).

The interaction touched on issues of enhancing the quality of postgraduate research and thesis, conducting research capacity workshops for graduate students, assessing thesis/dissertation, and other administrative procedures at the School.

UEW School of Graduate Studies Determined to Churn out World-class Students

The Dean, School of Graduate Studies (SGS), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Samuel Asiedu-Addo, has stated that the SGS is committed to producing world-class students who can compete with graduate students anywhere around the globe.    

He asserted that because universities are measured by the quality of research students and academic scholars produced, as well as the performance of graduate programmes, the SGS had reviewed its thesis marking scheme and incorporated modernised mechanisms to improve the research output of UEW graduate students.

Gender Mainstreaming Directorate Holds Leadership Seminar

The Gender Mainstreaming Directorate, in association with the Local National Union of Ghana Students (L-NUGS) Women's Commission and the GRASAG Gender Commission, has hosted a one-day colloquium for student leaders and staff of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).

The conference, which took place at the North Campus Mini-Conference Room on Thursday, 19th May, 2022, was under the theme “Journey to Leadership in the 21st Century: Overcoming Biases and Stereotypes”.
