From October 2019, forty-six public Colleges of Education will collaborate with five public universities in the country to roll out the new B. Ed programme which was approved by the National Accreditation Board in July 2018. This was disclosed at a two day orientation workshop organized by T-Tel for communicators from the five participating public universities to explore ways to support the roadmap for the delivery of the B.Ed programme and to address emerging communication issues.
The Dean, Faculty of Science Education (FSE) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Ruby Hanson, has won the Best Full Paper award at the 2019 Canada International Conference on Education (CICE).
The conference which took place from Monday, 24th June to Thursday, 27th June, 2019 at the University of Toronto, Mississauga, sought to promote collaborative excellence between academicians and professionals in Education and was attended by over 200 participants.
Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on Thursday, 25th July, 2019 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Millersville University of Pennsylvania, USA at the Council Chamber, North Campus, UEW.
The agreement will further mutual understanding and enhance the internationalisation of objectives in the areas of education, exchange and research between the two institutions. It will also facilitate cooperative initiatives between the two institutions in the areas of instruction, faculty and student exchange.
A Fulbright Scholar and Co-Director of University of North Carolina (UNC) Asheville’s 2019 Discover Ghana Study Abroad Program, Prof. Tiece Ruffin has supported the Department of Special Education (SPED) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) with learning materials.
The materials include hot dots talking pens, retell a story cubes, hot dots vocabulary 1-3, hot dots vocabulary 4-6, hot dots getting the main idea, reading comprehension cubes among others.
Construction works on a two-storey classroom block has begun at the College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) of University of Education, Winneba (UEW) as a further effort towards creating space to accommodate the increasing number of students to the University.
The over GHC1.7 million project is scheduled for completion within eight months and would have capacity for 500 students at a seating with washrooms. The facility would be accessible to all persons with disability.
The Management Committee of the Senior Staff Association, University of Education, Winneba (Winneba, Kumasi, Mampong and Ajumako campuses) has distanced itself from their impeached Chairman, Mr. Kingsley Amoakwah, whose actions and comments they claim are not sanctioned by the Association. This was contained in a Press Release dated today, 26th July, 2019.
The Statement also revealed that the Chairman was impeached as a result of embezzlement of an amount of Thirty Four Thousand Eight Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH₵34,800.00).
Management of the University of Education, Winneba has, in a Press Release dated 24th July, 2019 and signed by the Registrar of the University, dispelled mischievous reports of a change of Vice-Chancellor circulating in mainstream media and social media, and further emphasizes that Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni is still at post as the Vice-Chancellor.
Management further assures the general public, students, staff, alumni and all other stakeholders that the University premises are opened, safe and secured for normal business.
The general members of UTAG-UEW have today 24th July, 2019 dissociated itself from what it describes as a coup d’etat-like Press Release issued by Dr. Frimpong Kaakyire Duku, President of UTAG-UEW and his executives purporting to support a rather weird, scandalous and most frivolous position of a self-declared reinstatement of former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mawutor Avoke and some dismissed staff of the varsity.
The Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni has expressed his optimism in awarding the contract for the supply of Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERPS) to Bsystems Limited.
He said the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) had over the years had several challenges with its previous Information Management Systems starting with the Online Students Information System (OSIS) I through to OSIS II but he was hopeful that the intervention of Bsystems Limited would help solve these challenges once and for all.
