Department of History Education Joins NTNU for NORPART Grant

The Department of History Education of the University of Education, Winneba has been nominated as one of the three Universities in Ghana for the implementation of the NORPART grant. The Grant which is for a period of five years is aimed at promoting Intercultural Historical Studies between Ghana and Norway.

UEW Student Counselors Association of Ghana celebrates 18th anniversary

Winneba (C/R), May 18, GNA-

Dr Mrs Dinah Baah-Odoom, the Registrar of Ghana Psychology Council, has urged student counsellors to live up to expectation by acquiring knowledge and skills that will add value to the care they provide for their clients.

Dr Mrs Baah-Odoom made the call while addressing a durbar to commemorate the 18th Anniversary celebration of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Chapter of the Student Counsellors Association of Ghana.

The celebration was on the theme: “Towards Professionalism in School and Work Place Counselling”.

Budget Implementation Workshop Held for Deans and Heads

The Finance Section of the University of Education, Winneba has held its 2017 Budget Implementation Workshop for Deans, Directors, Deputy Registrars and Heads of Department/ Section/ Unit of the University.

The Workshop which was held on 18th May, 2017 at the Prof. Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre was aimed at discussing important issues for effective implementation of the 2017 Budget of the University, including the legal and regulatory context of the Budget.

UEW HOLDS SPORTS AWARDS AND DINNER NIGHT

The University of Education, Winneba has held its annual Sports Awards and Dinner Night to honour its distinguished Sports men and women who have excelled and lifted the name of the University high in all their respective sports disciplines. The awards and dinner night which took place on the night of Saturday 13th May, 2017 was organized under the auspices of the Office of the Amalgamated Sports Clubs of the University.

COLTEK BEGINS PRACTICAL ENTREPRENURIAL TRAINING FOR STUDENTS

The College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) of the University of Education Winneba (UEW) has made a major stride towards helping to fight the cancerous graduate unemployment situation that has bedeviled the nation for years now. The College is now collaborating with industry to offer practical entrepreneurial training to all its final year students so they (students) would not be overly reliant on seeking formal employment upon completion but open up their own businesses and employ others.

Be bold to take risk into business – Prof Okine

Professor Reynolds Okine, Principal, College of Technology Education of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has encouraged university graduates to accept to take risks and venture into business.
He said the training they had received should aid them to create employment for themselves to lead a good life.
That, he pointed out, was the path to travel to bring down the high rate of joblessness in the country.
Prof Okine was speaking at the opening of a-day’s products’ exhibition mounted by level 300 students of the university in Kumasi.

Gender Directorate Organises Mentoring for Senior Members

A two-day mentoring workshop has been organized by the Gender Mainstreaming Directorate for newly appointed senior members of the University to assist them in progressing in their career development in the University.

The workshop was held from 24th to 25th April, 2017 and attended by twenty (20) mentees and four (4) mentors from selected departments in the university.
