FHEE Holds Seminar on Ethical Review

The Faculty of Home Economics Education (FHEE), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has organised a seminar on the theme “Ethical Review in Responsible Research to Accelerate Sustainable Development” for its postgraduate students.

The seminar, held at the Student Centre Seminar Room III, North Campus, Winneba, taught students about having their work ethically examined and the value of the evaluation.

MFWA Executive Director Extols UEW Management for Infrastructural Expansion

The Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Mr. Sulemana Braimah, has commended the management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) for its judicious use of the university’s Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to expand infrastructure.

He applauded the UEW Management for the construction of a hospital to improve health delivery for the university community and the Effutu township, more lecture halls to facilitate academic work, hostels to ease accommodation pressure on students, and good roads to facilitate movement within and around campus.

UEW Researchers Win Consultancy Contract Award Worth ₵749,300.00

A team of academics from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has been awarded a consulting contract to design and develop communication and community engagement strategies for a community-based municipal solid waste source separation and compost project. 

The contract, awarded by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), is worth ₵749,300.00. The project is titled “Communication & Community Engagement Strategy and Equity & Inclusion Studies for a Community-Based Municipal Solid Waste”.

UEW Senior Members Undergo Training on GTEC’s New Standards and Norms

The Directorate of Quality Assurance, in collaboration with the Division of Human Resource of the University of Education Winneba (UEW), has held a seminar on the new standards and norms of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to strengthen quality assurance at the university.

The day’s seminar, held at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, UEW, on Tuesday, 9th May, 2023, shed insight on the quality assurance management framework and regulatory standards in the tertiary education space.

Sylvia Abena Peprah’s story as the first of her kind to attain high academic heights drew this Correspondent close to her to unearth the secrets behind her success.

The 34-year-old deafblind young woman from Breman-Asikuma in the Central Region lived her life as a normal child until age seven when a strange illness led to her admission at the Korle-Bu teaching hospital. Upon recovery however, the young girl lost her hearing and visual ability and her speech to a large extent.

UEW Ranked 2nd Best Communications and Public Relations University in Ghana

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) is Ghana's second-best communications and public relations university, according to EduRank, an independent metric-based rating organisation, in their 2023 ranking.

The university was pipped to the top spot by the University of Ghana, Legon. Additionally, UEW placed 20th in Africa and 717th in the world. Check   https://edurank.org/liberal-arts/communications/af/
