Gender Mainstreaming Directorate Organises Conference for UEW Women Leaders

The Gender Mainstreaming Directorate in syndicate with the Local National Union of Ghana Students (L-NUGS) Women’s Commission and GRASAG Gender Commission has organised a day’s colloquium for University of Education, Winneba (UEW) women leaders. 

The conference, which took place on Friday, 11th June, 2021, at the Registrar’s Conference Room, North Campus, Winneba, was held under the theme “Women’s Journey to Leadership Challenges, Opportunities, Way Forward”.

Faculty of Educational Studies Orients Students on Supported Teaching in Schools

Faculty of Educational Studies has organised a three-day faculty orientation on Supported Teaching in Schools (STS) for students of the departments of Basic Education, Early Childhood Care and Education, and Special Education. 

The seminar, which took place at Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre Car Park, North Campus, Winneba, was under the theme “Effective STS partnership in schools: The role of the students and lecturers in promoting quality teaching”.

GRASAG-UEW Holds Research Seminar for Postgraduate Students

As part of their activities for the 2021 academic year, the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), organised a research seminar under the theme: “Critical Issues in Conducting Educational Research” for its members.

The seminar, which took place on Wednesday, 9th June, 2021, at Central Campus, primarily aimed at helping members appreciate the core issues in conducting research.

Centre for African Studies, UEW Celebrates 2021 African Union Day

The Centre for African Studies (CAS), of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), an interdisciplinary research and teaching centre with a focus on building knowledge on Africa, has organised a one-day seminar to deliberate on issues in education as a pathway to Africa integration. 

This was part of activities to mark the African Union (AU) Day. The seminar brought together academics, students and other persons interested in the development of Africa.

DESA Honours Vice-Chancellor and Two Others

Executives of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Distance Education Students Association (DESA), have honoured the Vice-Chancellor, UEW, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni, the Director, Institute for Distance and e-Leaning (IDeL), UEW, Prof. Francis Owusu Mensah and the Dean of Student Affairs, UEW, Prof. Ernest Kwasi Amponsah.

The ceremony took place  at the Council Chamber, North Campus, Winneba.

Department of English Education Equips its Lecturers

The Department of English Education has organised a day’s workshop on pre-internship for level 300 students for its lecturers.

The workshop aimed to update and equip lecturers on teaching methodology to help student-teachers to also go and impart their students when on internship, took place on Tuesday, 18th May, 2021, at the Faculty of Social Science Education, North Campus, Winneba.

H. E. Shani Cooper Calls on UEW Management

The Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone, Her Excellency (H. E.) Shani Cooper has paid a courtesy call on the Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), to bid goodbye.

H. E. Shani Cooper will be vacating her post in a month and as custom demands, ought to officially say farewell to partners and to discuss further ways to strengthen their existing relationships.

UEW Commissions Several Projects for the Benefit of Students

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has commissioned several projects for the use and benefit of its students.  

The commissioning was done on Wednesday, 26th May, 2021, at the North and Central Campuses of the University by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Akosua Frema Opare, who represented the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Hon. Frema Opare was assisted by the Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and the Management of UEW.

UEW-ITECPD Trains Tutors of Affiliate Colleges of Education on Subject Based Manuals

The Institute for Teacher Education and Continuing Professional Development (ITECPD) has organised a weeklong workshop for tutors of the Colleges of Education affiliated to the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).  

The workshop, which started on Monday, 17th and ended on Saturday, 22nd May, 2021, at the Windy Lodge Hotel in Winneba, was on “Subject Based Course Manuals (Junior High School core and electives) and Professional Development session for B.Ed. Programme – year two, second-semester courses”.
