Call for Application - GOT Mobility Recruitment

The Department of Information and Communication Technology Education, UEW is calling for applications for the mobility component of the ongoing GOT project. The GOT project is a collaboration between the University of Education, Winneba, University of Cape Coast, Tallinn University, and Tampere University. The project aims at shifting lesson delivery towards data-driven and evidence-based methods to provide Digital Education at the University of Education, Winneba.


Workshop on Literature-In-English and English Language Pedagogy for Teachers of English

The Department of Applied Linguistics in collaboration with the Department of English Education is organizing a workshop on Literature-In-English and English Language Pedagogy for Teachers of English in Winneba and its environs as part of our corporate social responsibilities. The workshop is scheduled to take off as follows:


    Small-Scale Mining, Environment and Livelihoods: Perspectives from Mining Communities in Ghana

    The environment and livelihoods have come under severe strain in mineral-rich areas with the emergence of mechanised small-scale mining equipment, which generates more than five-fold increase in gold production. This article discusses the impact of mechanised small-scale mining on the environment and livelihoods of peasant farmers within broader climate change processes in Ghana. Methods used include community-level qualitative interviews, field observations, analysis of satellite imagery spanning the period 1987-2016, and published data on climate change processes affecting Ghana.

    UEW to Unveil Cutting-Edge Infrastructure to Propel Academic and Research Excellence

    The Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), under the leadership of Prof. Mawutor Avoke, has embarked on a transformative journey to complete several long-standing infrastructure projects on the university’s campus in a bid to bolster its commitment to academic and research excellence.

    These ambitious projects include the completion of two 3,000-capacity hostels, a state-of-the-art lecturer's block complex, and a 100-bed hospital facility.


    Call for Application – MPhil Fellowship at the University of Jyvaskyla

    Applications are invited from qualified M.Phil students, through their Deans of Faculty/School, for a three to four-month fellowship tenable at the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland. The applicant must have a grade B+ or better in all courses taken.

    Applicant must

    • have completed the course work of the programme
    • have successfully gone through thesis proposal defence
    • possess a valid passport

    UEW Ph.D. Journalism Students Interact with CEO of Focus 1 Media

    Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Students in Journalism and Media Studies at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) have interacted with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Focus 1 Media, Mr. Kwame Adu-Mante, on content development and management.  

    The engagement served to bridge the gap between academia and industry while also allowing Ph.D. students to have a thorough understanding of the reality of content management in the media landscape.


    Ageing without Social Security and the Covid-19 Pandemic in Ghana

    Provisioning for the aged remains problematic in developing countries due to absence of reliable social security systems that cater for majority of the population who operate under precarious conditions in the informal sector. How did the aged without social security cope with existential costs before and during the Covid pandemic? This paper discusses insights about how the elderly experienced poverty, their coping mechanisms, and obligations of the state as duty-bearer before and during the pandemic.

    UEW Level 400 Physics Students Showcase Their Projects

    Level 400 Physics Education students at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) have showcased their projects on semiconductor physics, heat, and waves as part of the requirements for completing their programme of study.

    The students constructed a rotating V-shaped solar panel tracker, an irrigation system, a smart dustbin that opens itself when someone walks up to it, and a radio transmitter to identify a radio station's frequency range, among other inventions.
