Mandatory Quizzes on the UEW Moodle LMS

In furtherance of the University’s goal of bringing the second semester to a logical conclusion by conducting teaching and learning on the Moodle platform, all Lecturers are requested to mandatorily conduct at least one form of quiz on the platform anytime from Wednesday April 29, 2020 through Thursday May 7, 2020 EXCEPT Tuesday May 5, 2020.

UEW COVID-19 Webinar Series

As part of measures to contain the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) and following calls by Management to roll out all academic activities online, the Office for Institutional Advancement (OIA) will be hosting series of webinars via Zoom video conferences on COVID-19.

Wearing of Face Masks on UEW Campuses to Prevent Transmission of Covid–19

Following the Honourable Minister of Health’s directive on the use of face masks in all public places, the University Management hereby directs that there shall be compulsory wearing of face masks by all staff.

Besides, all the University publics entering any campus/building shall be required to wear face masks. This is to avoid possible contamination, infection or transmission of the virus.

COLTEK-UTAG, Individuals Extend Support to Staff Rendering Essential Services on Campus

The College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) branch of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) and several individual staff of COLTEK have made donations to the skeletal staff who remained on duty to render essential services in the College during the lockdown of Greater Kumasi and its contiguous districts because of COVID-19.

Key among the donations were a cash amount of GH₵ 5,000.00 presented to the staff of the College Clinic by COLTEK-UTAG and 50 packs of small-size bottled water to the Security Unit of the College.

Submission of Project Work/Long Essay, Theses and Dissertations

The dynamics that come with the shutdown and the need to complete the 2019/2020 second semester through online teaching and learning also have implications for final year students. Hitherto, as part of the partial fulfillment of the requirements for graduation under the regular face-to-face system, for example, all undergraduate students are expected to submit and Project work under the supervision of a Lecturer.

COLTEK Implements Robust Measures, Fumigates Against COVID-19

The College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has been fumigated as part of efforts to fight COVID-19 in the College.

COLTEK benefitted from the fumigation exercise under the auspices of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development through the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council and the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies recently carried out to combat the global pandemic of COVID-19 in the Ashanti Region.

Online Orientation (Webshop) for Lecturers on How to Enhance Teaching and Conduct Assessment on Moodle

As part of the arrangements to ensure effective and efficient use of the Moodle in teaching and learning, ULMEC will, from 20th – 24th April, 2020 conduct self-instructional online tutorials (Webshop) for Lecturers.

The first online tutorial titled “Enhancing Effective Teaching and Learning Using Moodle” will be conducted on Monday and Tuesday 20th and 21st April, 2020.

Bringing 2019/2020 Second Semester to a Logical Conclusion Using MOODLE

Please, we bring to your attention, reviewed Academic Calendar for the 2019/2020 second semester which was approved by the Executive Committee at its sitting on April 17th, 2020. The new Calendar is in respect of the migration of all lectures to the online Moodle mode.

Disinfection Exercise

As part of measures to contain the spread of COVID 19 and other possible viruses in the country, a benevolent organisation, Zoomlion Ghana, has volunteered to embark on disinfection exercise in the public universities in Ghana. The Organisation will visit University of Education, Winneba for the exercise on Thursday, 16th April, 2020, at 7:00 a.m.

The targeted areas are: lecture halls, students’ residential halls, and walkways on all campuses, as well as IERIS.

Renewal of Post-retirement Contract and Part-time Appointment

All Staff who are on post-retirement contract and part-time appointments in the University of Education, Winneba are requested to initiate the request for renewal/ or fresh appointments through their respective Heads of Department/Deans of Faculty on or before 31st May, 2020 to ensure timely processing of their renewal of appointment by the beginning of the next academic year.

Provision of Technical Support to UEW Moodle Users

The Directorate of ICT Services announces to the University Community that an additional User-Support-System has been created for users of the Moodle System. This is intended to provide support services to users who encounter log in and other technical challenges.
