Ag. VC of UEW Leads High Powered Team to inspect Projects at COLTEK

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni has led a high powered team of Governing Council Members, Principal Officers and Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) to inspect  the currently on-going projects at the Kumasi campus of the University.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) and Government of Ghana (GOG) dual funded on-going construction of laboratories and workshops at the Campus was a major feature in the April 28, 2018 exercise.

End-of-Semester Examinations for Second Semester, 2017/2018

The Division of Academic Affairs wishes to inform both University staff and students that the End-of-Semester Examinations for the Second Semester is scheduled to start on Monday, 7th May, 2018 and end on Thursday, 24th May, 2018. The time-table for the General Papers can be accessed from the attachment below. Students are advised to visit their respective Departments for the Departmental Time-table.

UEW prepares itself to enroll more free SHS beneficiaries

Kumasi, April 28, GNA – The University of Education Winneba (UEW) is putting in place practical steps to provide physical infrastructure to enable it to be fully ready to enrol and accommodate many beneficiaries of the free senior high school programme.

Rev. Fr. Professor Anthony Afful-Broni, Acting Vice Chancellor said, for starters, the University was constructing four sets of 500 capacity lecture pavilions at the Winneba campus, which were expected to be completed before the beginning of the new academic year.

Government to Partner UEW’ in TVET Programmes – Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

The Government of the Republic of Ghana has expressed its readiness to partner the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) in its Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) programmes.

This was made known by the Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Saturday, 21st April, 2018 during the 2nd Session of the 22nd Congregation at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba.

COLTEK Organises Fashion Show and Exhibition

The College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) was the centre of attraction from April 13-14, 2018 as it organised its maiden Fashion Show, and the annual Catering and Fashion Exhibition. Dynamic fashion products and food varieties by final-year Fashion Design and Textile, as well as Hospitality and Tourism students respectively of the College were showcased to demonstrate some of the things they had learnt for their four years of study.

The Inter-University Conference for Doctoral Studies (IUCDS) in collaboration with the Department of French Education, the Faculty of Foreign Languages Education and Communication, the College of Languages Education (CoLANGE) and the School of Graduate Studies has organised its second seminar for doctoral scholars at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).

Learning New Strategies in Teaching Mathematics and Science

The Centre for School and Community Science and Technology Studies (SACOST) under the Institute for Educational Research and Innovation Studies (IERIS) organised a two day workshop for Math and Science teachers of the Effutu Municipality.

Math and Science are two most important subjects in this era. Any country’s survival is dependent on these two areas. However, pupils/students find these areas very difficult to understand which leads to poor performances of pupils/students.

  • Thursday, 12th April, 2018 – Special Education candidates
  • Friday, 13th April, 2018 – Subject Area Test (SAT) / Interviews for all candidates
  • Saturday, 14th April, 2018 - General Aptitude Test for all candidates.

Challenges with Processing of Staff Claims for Payment being addressed

The University’s Integrated Financial Information Management System (TOPAZ Accounting Pro) Software has been down for a while now. This has led to a delay in the payment of claims. The University Management and the developers of the TOPAZ system met this morning Wednesday 11th April, 2018, and an agreement has been reached to get the software running by close of today.

COLTEK SRC Organises Special Parade to Herald 2018 Week Celebrations

The College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) on April 4, 2018 witnessed an excellent display by the College Cadet Corps as the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) there organised a special parade to herald this year’s SRC Week celebrations. The Military Cadet Corps turned-out smartly in their dominant red and black ceremonial uniforms and treated members of the College Community to some delightful slow and quick precision-marching and riffle displays. The College Band was also in attendance to spice up the event with some patriotic songs.
