Prepare To Retire and Enjoy Your Retirement -UEW Retirees Urged

Staff of the University of Education, Winneba have been urged to take retirement planning seriously. This came to light during the 2017 annual Retirees Workshop for Junior, Senior Staff and Senior Members, who will be leaving the services of the University in September, 2017.

The workshop addressed issues such as ‘Preparing for Retirement’, ‘Life in Retirement’, ‘Managing Health in Retirement’ and ‘Retirement and Medication’.

FACULTY OF EDUCATIONAL STUDIES ORGANISES 3RD RETREAT

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, Prof. Mawutor Avoke has emphasized that the quality of teaching and learning has become one of the main topics of higher education consultants and policies at the international global levels, as well as within the Ghanaian educational setting.  Thus, the role of and responsibilities of university teachers in quality education delivery at the tertiary level is very important and urgent.

PRINCIPAL OF COLTEK PAYS COURTESY CALL ON THE ASHANTI REGIONAL MINISTER

The stalling of works on the over GHC3.5 million Conference Centre at the College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) was a prominent feature in discussions when the Principal of COLTEK, Prof. (Ing.) Reynolds Okai paid a courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional Minister, Honourable Simon Osei-Mensah at his office in Kumasi, last Thursday, June 1, 2017. Construction works on the 3000-seating-capacity edifice- touted as the biggest in the entire West African sub region - started in September 2010 and was originally expected to be completed in February 2013.

UEW Co-Operative Credit Ltd rated among the best in Ghana

Members of University of Education, Winneba Credit Union Board and Committees

 

The Central Regional Manager of Credit Unions has rated the University of Education, Winneba Coporate Credit Union Ltd. among the best Credit Unions in the Central Region. He made this observation at the opening of a three day seminar for its Board of Directors and Committees which begun on Wednesday 21st June 2017. The three day workshop will equip them with new ideas and information for the growth of the Union.

Councils of Tertiary Institutions to be constituted soon

Professor Kwesi Yankah, Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education on Monday 19th June, 2017 indicated that, efforts are underway to re-constitute councils of Tertiary Institutions in Ghana. He said this during a meeting with Management, Deans and UTAG Executives of the University of Education, Winneba.

Prof. Yankah who visited the University following some troubling events in the past weeks indicated that, his visit was to give him the opportunity to have firsthand information on the issue so as not to rely on hear-says and media reports.

Nomination call for UNESCO-Hamdan Prize 2017-2018 (5th Edition)

The fifth edition of the UNESCO-Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Prize for Outstanding Practice and Performance in Enhancing the Effectiveness of Teachers has opened the call for nominations.

 

The prize is awarded every two years and it recognizes initiatives that contribute to improving educational practices around the world, with priority given to developing countries and to marginalized and disadvantaged communities.

 

The Prize of $300 000 will be divided between three winners.
