Youth Unemployment is a Potential Security Threat to the Ghanaian Society – Dr. Eric Daniel Ananga

The Head of the National Centre for Research into Basic Education (NCRIBE) of the Institute of Educational Research and Innovation Studies (IERIS) at the University of Education, Winneba, Dr. Eric Daniel Ananga has called on society to create productive avenues of harnessing the energies of the youth in Ghana into a productive venture to avoid possible explosion.

He indicated that youth unemployment is a “potential security threat”. In his view, the youth stands the chance of falling into all kinds of vices which could pose a threat to society’s growth and development. He indicated that the youth are endowed with great potential which could be put into good use to make them meaningful members of society.

Dr. Ananga made these remarks during an interaction with the Ghanaweb online media outlet  during a dissemination workshop in Accra on British Council Research on youth employability in Ghana. He called on all stakeholders including government, policy makers, academia and employers to discuss the way forward and develop courses that will be relevant to society and at the same time ensure that the youth exit into employment or start their own businesses.
