Workshop on Installation of Solar Street Lighting System and Inverter Air Conditioners Held for Supervisors and Tradesmen

A day's training on Light Emitting Diode (LED) Solar Street Lighting System has been held for all Electricians and Air Conditioning Tradesmen on 30th May, 2017 at the University of Education, Winneba. The event was coordinated by the Office of Works and Physical Development.

According to the Ag. Deputy Director for the Office of Works and Physical Development, Ing. He indicated that the LED Solar Street lighting System and Inverter Air conditioners are efficient and cost effective ways of providing sustainable lighting and cooling for public universities in Ghana. He added that momentarily 70 solar lights have been procured for distribution to all UEW Campuses and this would improve the lighting system in the University and cut down on huge utility tariffs as well.

The workshop was facilitated by Resource Persons from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Energy and Natural Resource (UENR) and attended by Development and Maintenance staff of the University. Topics treated included: preparation for the installation of solar street lighting system, technical requirement and product specifications of solar street lighting system and inspection and the maintenance of solar street lighting system.
