UEW Signs MoU with Tai Solarin College of Education for Enhanced Collaboration

The Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) today, 15th August, 2018, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu-Ijebu, Ogun State, Nigeria to regulate their relationship.

The MoU which aims at enhancing research, staff and students’ exchange, staff capacity development and other academic and professional relationships was signed at the Council Chamber, North, Campus, UEW.

The terms of agreement also include collaborative curriculum development to facilitate the implementation of student mobility programmes, exchange of information (including library materials and research publications), joint participation in internationally funded projects, symposia, conferences and capacity building activities for both academic and administrative staff.

The Ag. Vice-Chancellor, UEW, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni assured the delegation from Nigeria that Management of UEW would also visit the Tai Solarin College of Education to learn and incorporate the unique practices of the College into UEW’s academic and administrative activities.

“It is supposed to be a collaboration and a win-win situation as well. I am sure that you Nigerians being so good at what you do, you will put all your spirit in it; you are very fearless, courageous and aggressive. We would learn from your good practices also. So, I want to assure you that we are not only going to come there to tell you what to do but to collaborate, to communicate, to interact and to share ideas”. The Ag. Vice-Chancellor said.

In a letter of appreciation to Management of UEW, delivered by the delegation, the Provost of Tai Solarin College of Education, Dr. Adeola Kiadese Lukmon, expressed his profound gratitude to the University and its entire member of staff for the warm reception.

“There is no doubt that the University under your administration has actually demonstrated African hospitality in its totality. The warm reception accorded the delegates are worthy of note in this regard.” He noted.

The Provost, however, assured UEW that his College would work tenaciously to ensure that the collaboration would be fruitful and rewarding. He added that “it is our prayer that the University under your able leadership will continue to soar higher”.

Dr. Isaac Olukayode Oyenaye; Deputy Director, Directorate of Research, Innovation, Linkages and Capacity Development, Dr. Lukmon Olusesi; Legal Service Officer, Barrister (Mrs.) Taiwo Olusesi Ganyzt and Chief Lecturer, Dr. (Rev.) Samuel Kayode Adekunle.

Among the University officials present are the Ag. Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. James Kagya-Agyemang; Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq; Dean, Centre for International Programmes, Prof. Yaw Sekyi-Baidoo and others.
