GRASAG-UEW Emerges Local GRASAG Association of the Year
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Chapter of the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) has emerged the Local GRASAG Association of the Year at the 2018 GRASAG Excellence Awards held at the University of Cape Coast, Central Region, Ghana. The Award ceremony was part of the GRASAG National Congress activities which took place from Thursday, 9th – Sunday, 12th August, 2018.
The awards night which took place on Saturday, 11th August, 2018 analysed the impact local GRASAG events have had on students. However, with unanimous declaration, GRASAG-UEW was crowned the overall winner on the night due to its numerous seminars and Annual International Multi-disciplinary Conference.
As custom demands, the Executives of GRASAG-UEW on Wednesday, 15th August, 2018, presented the Award to Management of UEW, where the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof Anthony Afful-Broni expressed his pride in the Executives for that achievement. He therefore, hinted that Management would continue to empower them to do more of the good works that they have started.
The Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq. disclosed that GRASAG-UEW was the pride of the University and therefore Management would be counting so much on them since they would be manning the affairs of the University in future.
“We are not only giving you book knowledge; we are also inculcating into you a sense of responsibility, respect and cohesion. We are very much sure that come next five or ten years, most of us will be retiring and we expect you to be the leaders of this University. For that matter, we are committed to building a very formidable, lasting and respectable institution for all of you to be part of.

“In the next ten years to come, I can assure you that all the Management staff, Deans and lecturers will be exiting and you will be the active lecturers and staff so we are counting on you to be of good behavior, not to be swayed, not to be disorganised but remain focused and be guided by the motto ‘Education for Service’ and keep on letting the flame burning so that UEW will continue to be the leading Teacher University in Ghana.” The Registrar said.
The immediate past Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Samuel Manasseh Yirenkyi on behalf of GRASAG-UEW expressed gratitude to Management for the immense support accorded them. Meanwhile, the Executives took the opportunity to present a report on a UEW-sponsored trip to Nigeria.
